PHOENIX - Scott Walter led at the start, a bunch of stuff happened, and he led at the end. In a pretty well-raced contest, Scott did what he had to to keep his truck in one piece and be up front when the checkers flew - and that's all you can ask of a race car driver.
In 2nd was the 38 of smadar, who led most laps (38 to swalter's 37), followed by points leader dj8832, DJWilliams and rotrhed. In a place as tough to pass as Phoenix, you treasure a top 5.
Seen throwing his helmet with some force at his truck was the driver of the 36, who finished 8th. Seems he was leading when he pitted with 25 to go and got trapped a lap down when caution flew as he exited the pits. He got the lucky dog, but he restarted 12th with 20 to go, so his advancement opportunities were, of course, somewhat limited.
"Yeah', said the crew chief of the 36, "we were fine, but we were eventually going to have to pit. Almost everyone had come in with 48 or 49 to go and we were pretty sure they'd all have to come in as well seeing as how the trucks were getting about 42 laps to a tank. Either way, if we'd stayed green there, I'm pretty sure this team would have had something to say at the end.... Oh - you'll have to excuse me - gotta rein in my driver... DUDE! - not the Bobby Labonte collectibles!! Oh, Maaaaan!!"
